Backing up
Before you head to the repair shop, it's definitely a good idea to back up your data. You should be doing this regularly. That way you avoid the risk of losing data if the device suddenly develops a fault or is even stolen. Regularly backing up your stored data is one of the basics of Mac maintenance.
There are several ways to save your data in macOS.
Backing up with Time Machine is a feature built right into your Mac. It makes a comprehensive backup of all your files, including apps, music, photos, emails, documents and system files.
Another option, and one of the simplest, is backing up via iCloud. Your data syncs across all your devices and you can access it on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC, and on the web at iCloud.com.

How to get your Mac ready for repair
Before visiting the repair shop, we recommend taking the following steps. Your information will then be safe and you'll save time.

- Documents and login details
Have your Apple ID password and personal ID ready. You should also know your macOS password.
Ideally, bring your proof of purchase with you as well. This is always easier if you bought your device online - you'll find the proof of purchase in the order history of your shopping account. - Book in with a reliable repair shop
